THE HISTORY OF DEVELCO
The company was established in 1989 by Aksel Kloster Sørensen, who was quickly joined by former colleagues. In a world-historical perspective, the year 1989 will of course not particularly be remembered for that event, but most of all for the “fall of the wall” and the end of the “cold war”. The period thereafter was generally characterized by severe technological development, not least in electronics and information technology. Develco has been part of it all the time – with the same business registration – and certainly contributed to technological development, both in Denmark and abroad.
From the very beginning, Develco was known to be among the leaders in electronics and communications technology. These competencies were the admission card for a number of development tasks for companies such as Grundfos, Crisplant, CCI and an information system for a Norwegian taxi company.
In the early 90’s, Develco worked for Crisplant and participated in concept development and development of HW and SW for the S2000 sorting system, which had groundbreaking technology in fieldbus and distributed intelligence. The sorting system is currently running in more than 500 airports and warehouses. Billions of packages have found their right destination by virtue of this control system developed by Develco.
Develco has made many development projects for Grundfos, and the first cooperation agreement was signed by Niels Due Jensen. In 2008, Develco developed NoNOx dosing pump, which was also groundbreaking in its technology and the first digital dosing pump in the world. With NoNOx, Grundfos received the Danish EU Environment Award for Industry in the Environment Technology category. Other Grundfos projects include Grundfos Go, Alpha Reader and G501 Connect Box.
For many years, Danfoss has also collaborated with Develco on many development projects. Cern is also on the list of customers.
Develco’s extensive expertise in wireless technologies has in recent years resulted in many development tasks in the IoT category. It also led to a spin-off from Develco with the creation of Develco Products, which develops and manufactures wireless IoT products.
All in all, throughout the years, Develco has completed many impressive development projects, of which selected are described under “cases”.
