Fast Assembly of Prototypes in Our Development Projects
In the development process of electronic products prototypes constitute an important element in our Develco Project Model for Product Development. To make the process from development to production as efficiently as possible we have an in-house SMT assembly machine for assembly and production of prototypes in connection with our development projects.
The Important Prototypes
The purpose of the important prototypes is to verify that both electronics/hardware and embedded software fit together and to carry out a functional test. But at the same time also to ensure that electronics fit into the mechanical product design.
We have strong competences within electronics production. Therefore, with internal assembly and production of prototypes we can significantly shorten the development process from product development of electronics products to 0-series production and ongoing production management of electronics production.
Develco’s Essemtec Fox 1 Machine
Our in-house SMT assembly machine is located at our prototype workshop and is extensively used for dispensing of solder paste and mounting of components on the prototypes. In the workshop, we solder the prototypes in our soldering oven, download embedded software, and test the prototypes on our own built needle test fixtures.
On the Essemtec Fox 1 machine we can produce prototypes in small numbers ranging from 1 to 50 pieces within 5 to 10 days. Our assembly and production of prototypes is precisely the same as in factories only in a scaled-down format with purchase of components in lower quantities.
Flexible Development Process of Electronics Products
“With our in-house assembly and production of prototypes at the workshop we handle the entire process with prototypes right from purchase of components and printed circuit boards PCBs to board bring-up and test of prototypes. We perform functional tests, customer tests, and environmental tests together with approvals of the prototypes. Our SMT assembly machine provides valuable efficiency in our development projects with the customers’ new electronics solutions. We reach our goals significantly faster with the fully developed electronics products being ready for the first 0-series production and ongoing production at our strategically selected Electronic Manufacturing Services EMS partners”, says CSO Jakob Bjerre.
