Gateway
The need for a gateway is tailored to the individual IoT solution. In some solutions the device is connected directly to the Cloud, while in other solutions a gateway is needed for data collection from multiple devices. Before development of an IoT solution Develco recommends that you have an overview of the number of devices to be connected to the gateway and whether the connection should be wired or wireless. Simultaneously it is a good idea to consider whether the gateway should be intelligent and be able to process data (edge computing). In some situations it would eg. be optimal to be able to store data for a specified time period if the gateway loses its connection to the Cloud.

With the continuously increasing number of connected devices Cybersecurity is often mentioned in connection with new business models and new digital products with IoT solutions for data collection. For hackers IoT products can be the back door into your company’s other IT systems. If your new IoT products become popular, hackers will most likely find your products interesting.
