With a mockup you can verify and test the functions of your product idea and clarify how customers and users will receive your product, and whether it is realistic to develop your idea into a finished electronics product. We build a mockup of as many standard components as possible and with minimal development work. Therefore, we can elaborate a Proof-of-Concept POC project for you in less time and at a lower price than a traditional development project, where your idea is designed and developed into a finished unique electronics product.
If you have a need for fundraising from investors to finance your development project, it can even be an advantage to have a mockup of your product idea. A mockup can be decisive in the determination, whether investors want to finance your development project.

Quick Mockup of an Electronic Bicycle Pump
Easy Pump had an idea for an electronic bicycle pump for cyclists in the cities. The bicycle pump must be very user-friendly and available for pumping bicycles, for instance at gas stations, at bicycle shops, and other obvious places in the city.
For Easy Pump, we have built a mockup of an electronic bicycle pump in a few weeks. Based on an electric pump from an existing bicycle pump, we have developed a hardware control with a suitable pressure sensor and a microprocessor and developed embedded software in the real-time operating system Zephyr. Everything is mounted in a standard plastic box, which Easy Pump can place at a suitable location to collect user experience. The control is simple to use and has push buttons for pre-selection of 3 different pump pressures when pumping different tire types.
With this mockup, Easy Pump can have their product idea clarified and later continue with product development of their electronic bicycle pump in a version suitable for volume production.
Junction Box for Connection of Additional Sensors
For an industrial customer, Develco has designed a waterproof junction box with the option of connecting additional sensors to the same monitoring unit.
Develco has developed mechanical design with electromechanical components for the new junction box. The box is designed with an input connector for the monitoring unit and up to a total of 4 output connectors for additional sensors. We have 3D printed the box itself and CNC-milled the printed circuit board in the box. The new junction box is easy to assemble and produced according to the principles of Design for Manufacturing DFM. Simultaneously, the box is potted with molding compound to make it waterproof, so that the design can withstand 10 years of use in water.
Proof-of-Concept POC Project before Product Development of Glue Gun
The company Bondpilot already had a patent for their solvent-free hot melt adhesive with CWC (Coat Weight Control) technology for precise, uniform adhesive application in vacuum castings. Bondpilot had a product idea to develop their own electronic glue gun to glue fiberglass sheets to the inside of the mould when casting wind turbine blades.
Bondpilot had elaborated their business case and their first design of their electronic glue gun as a starting point for a commitment to financing of their development project through Innovationsfonden.
Develco has performed a thermal analysis of Bondpilot’s first prototype before preparation of a Proof-of-Concept POC project with a mockup of a control for heat regulation of the electronic glue gun. We have researched relevant hardware components and subsequently developed a circuit, a hardware solution with a control based on a microcontroller and embedded software in the real-time operating system Zephyr for design of the glue gun. Everything is mounted in a standard plastic box and ready for testing and further tests.
Bondpilot deliberately outsourced their Proof-of-Concept POC project to us. After Develco’s electronics development with the Proof-of-Concept POC project with embedded software, Bondpilot will internally develop the final mechanical design of their electronic glue gun.
